DCE INSPECTS PROGRESS OF TONGO–YAMERIGA–SHEAGA–DUUSI–PELUNGU ROAD PROJECT
The District Chief Executive (DCE) for Talensi, Hon. John Millim Nabwomya, has continued his field engagements by inspecting the progress of work on the Tongo–Yameriga–Sheaga–Duusi–Pelungu road, being undertaken by ARACO Company Ltd.
During the visit, the DCE interacted with tipper truck drivers working for the contractor, who were actively delivering quarry stones and sand along the road for the construction of gutters.
The DCE also visited the contractor’s campsite, where he was informed that the contractor has mobilised key equipment and materials, including forms/moulds for the concrete gutters, concrete mixers and cement, to facilitate the next phase of construction.
In a telephone engagement with the contractor, the DCE was informed that the contractor is deliberately prioritising the movement of construction materials to various points along the road ahead of major excavation works. According to the contractor, once excavation begins, movement of heavy-duty trucks along the stretch will become difficult; hence, materials required for the construction of the gutters are being transported and positioned in advance.
This mobilisation is already ongoing, with materials having been moved beyond Tongo through the Sheaga stretch, with transportation continuing towards other sections of the project.
The DCE expressed satisfaction with the progress and emphasised the Assembly’s commitment to closely monitoring the project to ensure that work progresses steadily and delivers the intended benefits to communities along the corridor.
The ongoing road project, together with the installation of solar streetlights along sections of the corridor, is expected to significantly improve road connectivity, safety, visibility and security for residents and road users across the district.
Talensi is moving forward, one road, one community and one development project at a time.
